Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati (M21)


    Photo taken at the West Hollywood Kashi Ashram in the late 1980s or early 1990s.  A photo of a young Neem Karoli Baba, when he was a sadhu known as Lakshman, hangs around her neck.  Ma traveled to West Hollywood four times a year at this time to be with people living with AIDS, their care givers, and loved ones, as well as her growing satsang.  Ma was a strong advocate of gay rights.  In the 1990s the California ashram began serving means to homeless people under the bridges and on the streets that continues to this day.
