Sarangi master Ustad Sultan Khan is an award-winning, legendary instrumentalist who brings to the table an enormous amount of skill and emotion. Krishna Das needs little introduction – he’s one of today’s most prolific names in contemporary chant music. A DROP OF THE OCEAN is the realization of Krishna Das’ desire to work with Khan. The album specifically highlights the hypnotic sarangi playing of Ustad Khan, while Krishna Das provides vocal support by chanting (both solo and in a call/response style with Khan) and reciting verse from classic Hindu texts. In addition, percussionist Ty Burhoe, guitarist David Nichtern and keyboardist John McDowell craft light backing rhythms.
