SACRED WORLD CHANTS presents chants from a variety of major spiritual traditions, as performed by major world music artists. In each case, the music is on the contemporary side, featuring songs like “Ide Were Were,” a Yoruba chant being sung by Deva Premal and “Dudley’s Song,” a Native American piece sung by Cha-das-ska-dum. Other artists featured include Snatam Kaur, Sophia, Manish Vyas & Dina Awwad, Gina Sala and more. The album was designed as a prayer for peace among spiritual cultures and it does a great job of showing both diversity and unifying threads among those cultures.
