TIBET: CRY OF THE SNOW LION is the soundtrack to Tom Peosay’s moving documentary about the majestic landscape of Tibet, the culture’s adherence to knowledge over violence and tragic fate of its people at the hands of Chinese Communist oppressors. Emmy-award winning composer Jeff Beal utilizes field recordings of Tibetan monks chanting and regional instrumentation to construct a vision of the land as a place where beauty and sadness are intertwined. His compositions are simplistic, yet there is power in those subtle melodies; the music sounds natural, serene and heartfelt. Tibetan-born flute player Nawang Khechog further adds to the album’s atmosphere with his considerable talents on the bamboo flute. Album includes “Enhanced CD” features. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Dalai Lama Foundation.
