British/Bengali songstress Susheela fuses the Indian classical music of her upbringing with the more electronic sounds of today’s British music scene on SALT RAIN, her Narada debut. Collaborating with Real World producer/guitarist Sam Mills, Susheela sets out to bring her bold, sensuous style to the forefront of modern Indi-pop. Comparisons to artists like Sheila Chandra and Susana Baca are inevitable, yet the bluesy, acoustic sound of songs like “Momavatu,” “Trust In Me” and “Song to the Siren” contain enough inventiveness and power to provide listeners with an exciting alternative to mainstream Indian music.
