Mother’s Blessing is a beautiful collaboration between mother and daughter, Prabhu Nam Kaur and Snatam Kaur, in celebration of the Great Mother. The music on Mother’s Blessing stays in line with what one might expect from a Snatam Kaur album – sweet, dreamy arrangements, a mix of Eastern and Western instrumentation (harmonium, strings, Indian percussion, light synth) and tender singing. The mantras themselves included in Mother’s Blessing are derived from the Sikh tradition of Gurbani kirtan. They offer praise and ask for blessings from the Great Mother. Snatam and Prabhu have wonderful harmony – both of their voices are pitched rather similarly, so they complement each other well. Mother’s Blessing is a great album for exploring spirituality or providing an environment of love and peace during meditation.-
